This hand-forged scissor or saex was one of the favorite weapons of the Scandinavian Vikings and has a period-typical handmade leather scabbard with brass fittings. The model is based on several finds of this type of long single-edged combat knives. Above all, many variants are found on Gotland. Roller (grip) in polished ash. Handle, button and ring in brass. The scabbard is typical of Scandinavia and has two loops for the belt, the knife then hangs horizontally on the front of the body and acts as both a weapon and a status symbol.
The blade is hand forged in carbon steel and hardened with oil and then tempered in the traditional way. The blade is marked with the Nordlys™ "blacksmith's mark" so you can be sure that the scissors come from our forge.
The edge and tip shape on this model is adapted to meet the Scandinavian requirements for use in battle, historical fencing and reenactment combat. On this model of scissors, the blade is guaranteed by Nordlys for historical fencing and reenactment fights. Nordly's blunt scissors are approved for historical fencing and military combat according to Scandinavian practice and regulations.
